The Journey Inward

These are about nine months old. It was a take on ” Rikki-Tikki-Tavi ” i did as a trainee at Disney Animation. I had some great mentors and fellow trainees Carrie Hobson and Guillaume Fesquet.
There were some hard growing pains with these two paintings, and they hurt like hell, I’m not gonna lie. You think they’ll get easier or you’ll reach that plateau, after all the struggle and improvement theres going to be a great reward, but the rewards are small, and you have to enjoy them along the way.

Objectives

Im not a huge fan of blogging for a lot of reasons, this is why im constantly deleting my own. Since I’ve always felt like an art community misfit, tumblr seemed like a departure from the blog sphere of link lists, clicks, and critics.

I’ve always thought “you’ll get what your worth…if your worth a damn”. Since I stepped foot into art college I set out to make it. Since then I’ve never felt like I was part of the art community, and I doubt that I ever will. What I do know is like most of us I stay up night after night trying to make something Im proud of, and prove to myself that I deserve to be where Im at.

Nine months ago I came to Disney Animation as a trainee trying to define myself as an artist, and in the end fell short. In a round about way I was given a second chance, and thanks to a group patient and nurturing artists, writers, and directors, I was given a platform to try again. Passion is an irreplaceable feeling, it can’t be traded for any title, prize or recognition.

Work hard, be kind to people and amazing things will happen.

I made this to document that idea.
